Wesley Walks to Fight World Hunger

Last Sunday Wesley UMC joined over 140 walkers from ten local churches to bring awareness that suffering and deaths due to hunger are outrageous and preventable.
Almaden Hills UMC again hosted the Annual CROP Walk to benefit Church World Service and local charities. The one to three mile routes took walkers to and around beautiful Almaden Lake.  Representing Wesley were Catherine and Nin Bao, Elaine and Rob Hikido, Judie Kanemoto, Carl Morimoto, Ed Gibo, and John Tanaka.
By your faithful and generous support from the congregation and friends, Wesley will contribute $ 2,195.00. In addition, Wesley's Missions will add another $1,000.00.
CWS receives 75% of the donations for international relief and training for poor villages to become self-reliant. Locally, Second Harvest Food Bank, Sacred Heart Community Services, and Martha's Kitchen will share the remaining 25%.
Wesley walked because thousands walk every day for food and water to drink or bathe, or for wood used in cooking or shelter.  In San Jose, we see hundreds of unhoused surviving in "camps" and hundreds walking and waiting for soup kitchens or parks to open for their only meal of the day.  Your giving also helps our neighbors receive weekly grocery bags of food at Compassion Ministry's Food Distribution Program every Tuesday.
Thank you from all unknown but grateful recipients. If you would like to know more about Wesley's Mission events, please contact Doris Tabuchi, Ed Gibo, Judy Yasutake, Judie Kanemoto, or John Tanaka
