Nikkei Matsuri 2025

Teppan Taco food booth workers prepping for the onslaught on Nikkei Matsuri Festival goers. This delicious treat was sold out by 2 p.m.

Chef Larry Inouye, who is the creator of Teppan Tacos, stepped up to do the marinade and added his expert cooking skills making this street taco have that touch of tasty perfection.

Suno and Teri, our church's Nikkei Dogs did very well as they too sold out by the end of the festival. I do believe Chef Inouye had a hand in this creation as well. They have been a festival favorite for many years.

Bobbie Ueunten (left) and Terri Koike took the first shift in giving out information about our church and selling UWF Cookbooks at the bargain price of $15 and you get one free.

Out Scouts made their presence known and hope their recruitment booth was successful.

Despite the rain and overcast skies came powerful and crowd-pleasing sounds of the Wesley Jazz Band performing on the Machi Stage for the community’s Nikkei Matsuri on April 27, and seen here with the musical antics of the Blues Brothers, Dave Land and Mark Teagle.

Burrrr! It was chilly, but the Wesley Ukulele Band gave the audience a real treat with hula dancing and crowd pleasing Hawaiian and Japanese songs coming from the Aloha stage.

Church member and Wesley Ukulele Band leader, a smiling Tina Urata, demonstrated her Hula skills.

Opening the annual festival were Rinban Gerald Sakamoto (left) of the San Jose Buddhist Betsuin and Rev. John Oda of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
