Pastor's Reflection 2024-01-25
1 Corinthians 7:30-31 (MSG)
I do want to point out, friends, that time is of the essence. There is no time to waste, so don’t complicate your lives unnecessarily. Keep it simple—in marriage, grief, joy, whatever. Even in ordinary things—your daily routines of shopping, and so on.

February marks the beginning of the season Lent. Our theme for Lent 2024 is “Simply Lent”.
The forty days of Lent mirrors Christ's time in the wilderness. This was a period of self-reflection, testing and preparation for Christ’s as he launched his ministry. Likewise, we enter this Lenten space and make time for self-reflection, repentance, prayer, and fasting. “Simply Lent” is the perfect opportunity to declutter our hearts and minds, and to simplify our lives!
Every Sunday we will take time to reflect, reevaluate our priorities, redirect our focus toward spiritual growth, service to others and make more room for God in our busy lives. Here is a sample of the Sunday sermon titles and focuses during Lent: Simply Prioritize, Simply Detox, Simply Unplug, Simply Rest, Simply Let Go, Simply Trust God's Plan.
Simplifying one’s life involves shedding excess baggage, be it material possessions, unhealthy habits, or emotional burdens. Our hope is that through this spiritual act of simplification we will all foster a deeper connection with God and a heightened awareness of the important things of our lives.
“Simply Lent” will encourage all of us to embrace simplicity, to create space for contemplation, prayer. As 1 Corinthians 7:30 states, “There is no time to waste, so don’t complicate your lives unnecessarily. Keep it simple”.
My hope is that as the clutter of life is stripped away, we will all be poised to experience a more meaningful and transformative Lenten season and Easter celebration.
