Aton is the new El Camino District Lay Leader
This is an article that Aton Abril wrote, (with some edits for length). Aton is the new El Camino District Lay Leader.
Dear Friends and Members of the El Camino Real District,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and thriving in your ministries and personal lives. I am honored to have recently been asked to be your District Lay Leader, and I am excited to serve alongside you as we walk this faith journey together. As we strive to embody the vision and values of our Annual Conference, it is essential to keep them at the forefront of our discussions and actions. The vision statement that guides us is: “Following Jesus, Thriving in Community, Healing the World.”
Following Jesus - As disciples of Jesus, our District aims to deepen our faith and love for God, and to intentionally live out our roles as the heart, hands, and feet of Jesus in the world. Whether it’s through our personal spiritual formation or our collective social impact, let's be diligent in aligning our practices with the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ.
Thriving in Community - Being a disciple is not a solitary endeavor. Our strength lies in our community. This is the time to leverage our collective power to build robust, diverse, and engaged communities of faith. Let us work together to nourish our existing faith communities and to plant new seeds of hope wherever there is fertile ground.
Healing the World - Our District and local congregations have long been committed to social justice and outreach programs. As we lean into the challenges of our time, let us be emboldened by our vision to bring both spiritual and tangible healing to a world in need.
I am excited about the road ahead and eager to see how our vision will manifest through our combined efforts. As resurrection people, let us rekindle the spirit of hope and transformation in our communities and beyond. Together, we can achieve "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20).
With blessings and peace,
Aton Abril
